Death of a glacier

People take part in a mourning ceremony for the disappearing Pizol glacier, in Mels, Switzerland. The Pizol glacier, now at less than a tenth of a square kilometer, in the Glarus Alps in eastern Switzerland has been retreating as temperatures climb. Padre Pio Mountain of Healing

Catholic devotees climb a hill to visit the 50-foot Statue of St. Padre Pio stands at the Padre Pio Mountain of Healing at Barangay Paradise 3, in San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan on Sunday. 'Game of Thrones' named best drama at Emmys

The cast and crew of "Game of Thrones" accept the Outstanding Drama Series award onstage during the 71st Emmy Awards at Microsoft Theater on Sunday in Los Angeles, California. Marikina kids get vaccinated against polio

A child gets vaccinated in a program of the Marikina city government on Monday amid the reemergence of polio in the country after almost 2 decades being declared polio-free by the World Health Organization. 2 killed after portion of Sogo Hotel collapses

Two people are killed after a portion of the Sogo Hotel in Malate collapsed Monday morning. Levi Facundo, chief of Manila's Bureau of Permits, said the hotel's business permit is valid until December 31 and its other documents for plumbing, fire safety and others are in order. Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day

A guardian picks up his ward at the Sto. Niño Elementary School in Marikina City on Monday as public schools and some government offices suspended services early in celebration of “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga Day”, which encourages parents to spend mealtime and be involved with their children. Bracing for an increase

A jeepney driver reacts as he fuels up in Marikina on Monday, a day before oil firms implement the highest price hike for the year so far. Several oil companies have announced an increase of P2.35 for gas and P1.75 for diesel following drone attacks on two major oil facilities of Aramco in Saudi Arabia last weekend, making for a total increase of P13.59 for gas, P8.04 for diesel, and P4.77 for kerosene since January.
