Major Fortunato S. Perez receives the US Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian award given by the United States, for his bravery during the second World War in ceremonies held at the World War II Veterans Museum in Taguig on Thursday. Now 96 years old, Perez entered the service at 18 and fought against the Japanese occupation, leading tactical operations in Hagonoy town, Bulacan.
