Confiscated contraband

Manila Police District (MPD) officers and employees prepare improvised firearms and illegal gambling machines confiscated from Baseco in Port Area in Manila through two weeks of operations. The guns and machines will be presented to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno at the City Hall on Tuesday. Police held a series of operations at the compound following Moreno's orders, with Sunday's raids leaving 3 suspects dead and more than a thousand residents arrested. George Calvelo, ABS-CBN News

Making do

An infant confined at the Dr. Jose P. Rizal Memorial Provincial District Hospital in Calamba, Laguna on Tuesday is placed under a makeshift oxygen hood made of a 6-liter plastic water container. An increase in the number of patients has forced the 100-bed capacity hospital to resort to using the improvised oxygen hood which the hospital says is clinically accepted.
