Painting a protest with light

Members of the Photojournalists' Center of the Philippines staged a light painting protest in front of the ABS-CBN Broadcasting Center on Sunday on the eve of the fifth State of the Nation Address of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Using a lighting stick to project images captured through time exposure, the photojournalists’ group highlighted the issues currently affecting the media industry, including the threat to press freedom and the recent shutdown of media giant ABS-CBN network.

Freelance photojournalists contributing images to the network’s various publications are among those whose jobs are affected by the franchise denial of ABS-CBN as the formerly largest media network streamlines its operations because of lost revenues.
