The country went to the polls on Monday in a mid-term election widely regarded as a referendum on President Rodrigo Duterte's administration.

Like all previous Philippine elections, this one was no less raucous, with reports of misfires, from vote-buying allegations to malfunctioning counting-machines.

The administration bets came to the polls with a big advantage in surveys, but the opposition refused to surrender bringing high spirits to the precincts.

ABS-CBN News photographers captured the spirit of #Halalan2019 in this series of photographs.
