The observance of the Holy Week sees tens of thousands of residents travel outside Metro Manila to take advantage of the long holiday break.

As “carmaggedon” was experienced at the North Luzon Expressway on Thursday, Big City residents however have seen a respite in the megacity’s daily traffic congestion.

MMDA reported around 357,000 vehicles traveling EDSA daily in 2017 and was forecast to exceed 400,000 vehicles in 2018. The visibly low number of vehicles traversing EDSA and other major thoroughfares during the Holy Week had motorists and commuters wishing for these road conditions to last.

Here are select images showing major roads and how they look before the Holy Week and during.
