Trike drivers adjust to new normal

A tricycle driver fixes the plastic barrier that he installed in his vehicle to comply with safety measures in Quezon City on Wednesday, as trikes were allowed on the roads again following a two-month COVID-19 lockdown. Since their return, drivers say the most they earn is roughly P400 a day, less than half of the P1,000 they used to earn before the pandemic. This even as passengers pay a higher fare as all rides are classified as a “special trip” due to social distancing protocols.
