Senators Bam Aquino, JV Ejercito and Sonny Angara shared a table with aspiring senator Imee Marcos at an event organized by religious group El Shaddai on Saturday.

Marcos and the 3 incumbents were among 14 senatorial candidates endorsed by El Shaddai.

The regime of Marcos' father, the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos, was toppled in 1986 by a popular uprising that put in power Aquino's aunt, the late democracy icon Corazon Aquino.

In a tweet replying to ABS-CBN News, Sen. Aquino noted the importance of acknowledging allies and foes alike, quoting a piece of advice from his uncle, former senator Ninoy Aquino.

"May mahalagang leksyon sa pulitika na itinuro si Tito Ninoy sa kanyang mga anak na naikwento ni Ate Kris. Sino man ang nasa harap mo, kakampi man o hindi, dapat ikaw ang unang bumati. Para malaman niya na wala kang ikinahihiya, wala kang aatrasahan," he said.

(There is an important political lesson that Tito Ninoy taught to his children, which Ate Kris shared. No matter who is in front of you, an ally or foe, you should be the first to greet them so they would know that you have nothing to be ashamed of, that you won't back out of anything.)
