Several senators have urged Malacañang to impose a travel ban on individuals traveling from China as authorities confirmed the first case of the new coronavirus in the country, a Chinese national who travelled from Wuhan where the virus originated.

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said the Philippines is monitoring at least 23 other patients suspected of carrying the new coronavirus.
