MANILA &mdash; The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Saturday conducted a voting simulation to determine the most efficient length of time voters need to review their votes after dropping off their ballots in the Automated Counting Machine (ACM).&nbsp;This needs to be done as this is the first time that voters will be allowed to review their votes from a monitor attached to the ACM, Comelec Chairman George Garcia told ABS-CBN News.&nbsp;&ldquo;Ginagawa talaga dapat ito ng Comelec lalo na na may mga bagong makina tayo upang masubukan natin ilang segundo ba o minuto mag-aaccomplish ng balota ang mga botante natin and at the same time malaman din natin kung maayos din ba yung pagboto sa pamamagitan ng mga bagong makina at iba pang obserbasyon,&rdquo; he told reporters.&nbsp;<a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/8/3/comelec-chief-to-seek-us-aid-on-possible-bank-fraud-case-over-fake-offshore-accounts-1500" id="isPasted">Comelec chief to seek US aid on possible bank fraud case over fake offshore accounts&nbsp;</a>&nbsp;&ldquo;At least yung gagawin naming general instruction para sa araw ng eleksyon, para sa araw ng mga guro, magiging basehan namin ito,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;&ldquo;Hindi man ito perfect, at least guided kami, hindi lang kami basta gagawa ng guidelines tapos hindi pa namin nasusubukan pa pala kung paano ipapatupad,&rdquo; he added.&nbsp;The Comelec prepared 4 classrooms each with 50 mock voters.&nbsp;Voters in the first classroom were given 20 seconds to review their votes, while voters in the second room were given a 15-second limit.&nbsp;Voters in the third room were not allowed to review their votes on the ACM&rsquo;s monitor, while those in the fourth room were given as much time as they needed to review their votes.&nbsp;<a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/8/2/comelec-to-decide-on-panel-s-recommended-raps-vs-alice-guo-by-next-week-1556" id="isPasted">Comelec to decide on panel&#39;s recommended raps vs Alice Guo by next week</a>&nbsp;&ldquo;Sa pagrereview dito, tinitingnan din natin kung gaano kabilis ang mga makina, lalo na kapag pinasok ang mga balota,&rdquo; Garcia said.&nbsp;&ldquo;Titingnan natin yung makokolektang data dito at aalamin namin kung more or less ano ba ang average talaga at ano ang puwedeng maimpose na limitation,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;The Comelec en banc is expected to announce their decision in the coming months as the Philippines prepares for its midterm elections in May 2025.
