MANILA (UPDATED) -- On Day 2 of the filing of certificates of candidacy at the Office of the Regional Election Director-National Capital Region (ORED-NCR), former Malabon Mayor Lenlen Oreta is first in line, aspiring to become a member of the House of Representatives.In the afternoon, former lawmaker Ricky Sandoval filed his COC, aiming to make a comeback and represent Malabon&#39;s Lone District.He was joined by his wife, Malabon Mayor Jeannie Sandoval.&quot;May the best man win,&quot; Sandoval said when asked about going up against Oreta.<a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/9/30/philippines-enters-new-election-season-as-candidacy-filing-for-2025-kicks-off-443">READ: Philippines enters new election season as candidacy filing for 2025 kicks off</a>For his part, Sandoval wants to focus on various programs.&quot;Naiiwan ang Malabon. We have to improve on our schools,&quot; he said.Meanwhile, Oreta is confident of his track record.&quot;Naging alkalde ako ng three terms... Nakita naman iyong nagawa ko sa Malabon, so I think maganda ang laban,&quot; he said.&quot;I can apply all the things I learned as a mayor sa Kongreso. Rolando Valeriano is seeking reelection, while neophyte Giselle Maceda aims to become the representative of Manila&#39;s 4th district.She is joined by her husband, Edward Maceda, a long-time congressman in the district.Former Manila congressman Manny Lopez wants a comeback in the 1st district.&#39;STRATEGIZING DAYS&#39;From Oct. 1 to 2, 21 lawmaker-aspirants have filed their COCs here, with 13 lawmaker-aspirants on Oct. 1 and 8 on Oct. 2.Atty.
