More than 9 out of 10 Filipinos appear to be optimistic as they step into a new year, a Social Weather Stations survey made public on Monday showed.
When asked, "Is it with hopes or with fears that you enter the coming year?", 92% said with hope, based on a report posted by the agency on its website.
The ratio is 4 percentage points lower than the 96% tallied in 2017, a record-high.
Meanwhile, 8% answered with fear, higher than the 4% recorded last year.
According to the SWS, "hope for the New Year has always been high," since the agency began the survey in 2000.
The latest survey was conducted from December 16 to 19.
