It will be a rainy start to the new year in some areas of the country, due to a low pressure area and the northeast monsoon(hanging amihan).

A low pressure area is affecting eastern Mindanao, said weather bureau PAGASA on Saturday, while the northeast monsoon is affecting Luzon.

Cloudy skies as well as light to moderate rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms are expected over CARAGA and the Davao region.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, as well as eastern Visayas, may experience cloudy skies and light to moderate rain.

It will be cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms for the rest of the country.

Coastal waters are expected to turn rough along Luzon and eastern Visayas.
