DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur—President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday led the distribution of some P10 million in financial assistance to families affected by a string of earthquakes in Davao del Sur.
Duterte said he was not able to visit the affected residents in November because of other commitments.
"Talagang busy ako. There are things which I could not let anybody handle it. Because it’s a very sensitive issue,” he told the audience during the 60th founding anniversary of Cor Jesu College.
Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Cagas said the aid would alleviate the living conditions of the families who have staying in evacuation centers for more than 2 months.
Duterte said the government would also construct relocation centers in the towns of Padada and Malalag, wherein hundreds of families could be accommodated.—Report from Chrislen Bulosan, ABS-CBN News
