MANILA - A bungled police pursuit that left 2 people killed will be investigated fully, Malacanang said Friday.
Policeman and village guards fired at an AUV in Mandaluyong late Thursday thinking it was carrying a shooting suspect. The shooting victim, who was inside the vehicle, were among the fatalities. Two others were hurt.
"The matter will be investigated fully even if there appears to be excessive force utilized by police authorities," Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.
"It’s also proper that policemen involved have been disarmed and their movements restricted," he said.
The Mandaluyong police chief, Senior Supt. Moises Villaceran Jr. and 10 of his men who were involved in the incident were removed from their posts on Friday to give way to an investigation.
