BUTUAN CITY — An afternoon fire gutted at least six houses located near Butuan City's central business district Thursday.
The fire broke out around 2 p.m. reportedly from a house owned by a certain Rosales in Purok 2, Barangay San Ignacio.
Four firetrucks responded to the incident and the office of the Bureau of Fire Protection issued the first alarm. Firefighters struggled to contain the blaze, which spread quickly because of windy conditions and the warm weather.
A firetruck and a team of volunteers from the Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce also arrived at the scene.
Rains helped to douse the flames, which was put out around 2:25 p.m.
No one was reported hurt in the fire, which affected at least 10 families.
Police are still investigating the incident.
