MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday again lashed out at the New People's Army for supposedly violating its own ceasefire declaration when it allegedly staged attacks in the south on Christmas Day.

“Itong mga komunistang ito hambugero. Kung mag-salita, akala mo sino. Sabi ko, ‘Kaya ikaw, mga terorista kayo.’ Tingnan mo, ceasefire, may --- Saan ba ‘yun? May inatake na naman sila. Walang honor talaga,” Duterte said.

Around 30 alleged NPA fighters attempted to abduct a militia man in Tarragona town, Davao Oriental province, said Capt. Jerry Lamosao, spokesman of the Army's 10th Infantry Division.

Another group of rebels allegedly attacked an Army militia base in Laak, Compostela Valley, Lamosao said.

Major Gen. Noel Clemen, commander of the Army's 10th Infranty Division, said the attacks were clear violations of the Christmas ceasefire declared by the group.

The government has also declared its own ceasefire.
