Former Senator Jinggoy Ejercito Estrada clarified on Monday reports that former President and now Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Estrada was hospitalized after contracting pneumonia.
"Contrary to what had been said and reported in the media, my father has no pneumonia," Jinggoy said in a statement.
"My father suffered an asthma attack due to overfatigue and because of the weather," he added.
The Manila mayor is now well and resting after being discharged from the hospital, Jinggoy added.
The elder Estrada was admitted at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan last week after experiencing difficulty breathing, according to Sen. JV Ejercito, Jinggoy's half-brother.
