At least 180 passengers got stranded at the Bredco Port in Bacolod City due to Typhoon Ursula since Tuesday, and they have been temporarily sheltered at a school in the city.
Around 24 classrooms of Education Training Center School 4 were used as sleeping quarters while the local government provided food and water to the stranded passengers.
Personnel from the city health office were tapped for medical assistance, while police and barangay staff provided security.
Most of the passengers were from Mindanao and did not anticipate the bad weather in Bacolod, which continued to have gloomy skies with intermittent light to moderate rains brought by Typhoon Ursula as of writing.
Ursula, which was still inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), has been bringing destructive winds and intense rainfall to different parts of the country, causing storm warning signals in multiple areas.
