More than 30 homes in a subdivision in Quezon City were gutted by fire Friday evening, leaving 50 families homeless this Christmas.
The fire in Odelco Subdivision in Barangay San Bartolome reached fourth alarm. The fire quickly spread because the homes were made of light materials.
It was declared fire out at 11:03 p.m.
No one was reported injured in the incident, but damage to property is estimated at P300,000.
Among those who will celebrate the holidays homeless are Rosita and Jocelyn Postanes.
Rosita recalled they had to crawl to the back passage because the fire had reached their roof.
"Paskong pasko. Wala man kaming gamit," expressed Jocelyn.
She said she only has one wish this season: "Makaraos lang po. Kasi wala kaming gamit. Walang damit. Kahit ano wala. Di namin alam saan titira. Sana may tumulong."
Barangay captain Dong Pascual assured that the victims will be brought to the covered court where they will be given food.
