MANILA - Tipsters stand to gain P30 million for any information that will lead to the capture of AKO Bicol Party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe, the governor of his province said Sunday.

Batocabe, 52, was distributing gifts in his hometown Daraga, Albay on Saturday afternoon when he and his police escort were gunned down by unidentified assailants.

The bounty against the killers was raised by Batocabe's colleagues in Congress and the local government, said Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara.

"P30 million is at stake now. 'Yung nakakaalam kung sinong mastermind, sinong magbibigay ng impormasyon sa PNP, sigurado na 'yun," he said in a press conference.

(Those who know the mastermind and will give information to the PNP, are guaranteed to receive the prize money.)

Batocabe, who was in his last term as a congressman, was looking to run as mayor of Daraga in next year's polls.

House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on Sunday lamented Batocabe's killing, saying politics has degraded the value of human life.

Police have formed a special task force to investigate Batocabe's death.

Batocabe's family said the slain lawmaker's wake will be held at the Arcilla Hall, in front of Bicol College in Daraga staring 10 p.m. Sunday. - With a report from Dominic Almelor and Maan Macapagal, ABS-CBN News
