'Vinta' knocks down trees, kills man in Iligan

A man died after a shed collapsed when a tree fell on it in Barangay Abuno, Iligan City on Friday morning.

The victim was identified as Nic Goc-ong, 33.

Goc-ong's sister Ginalyn told ABS-CBN News that the victim went outside to watch the flood.

At the height of tropical storm Vinta, a tree fell on a shed where Goc-ong was staying and hit him on the head, she added.

Two people, who were staying with Goc-ong on the shed, were injured.

In Barangay Tipanoy, Iligan City, a man was also injured when a tree fell on him.

Rollymar Sanguinza, who was injured in the leg, was immediately brought to a hospital.

The storm inundated many areas in Iligan where authorities had to close a bridge after the river became swollen with floodwaters.

Several houses were also submerged in the flood and residents were forcibly evacuated. - report from Roxanne Arevalo, ABS-CBN News
