A 3.8-magnitude earthquake struck off southeast of Capoocan town in Leyte on Thursday night.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake occurred at 11:48 p.m. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 9 kilometers.
Five hours earlier, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck off southwest of Kawayan town in Biliran.
Phivolcs said the quake happened at 6:29 p.m. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of one kilometer.
Both provinces recently suffered major damage due to the onslaught of tropical depression Urduja.
Some 28 people died in Biliran while five casualties were reported in Leyte.
