MANILA - Forced evacuation has been implemented in several cities in Northern and Central Mindanao as Tropical Storm "Vinta" continued to barrel through the island.

Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Assemblyman Zia Alonto Adiong said cities have declared a "code red" status, which means that local government units have imposed mandatory evacuation.

State weather bureau PAGASA earlier warned of serious flooding in Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental, and Compostela Valley.
