MANILA - A rice field in the town of Lopez in Quezon remains submerged in floodwater on Wednesday following strong rains brought by tropical storm Urduja over the weekend.
Resident Roseller Kempis posted a video of himself and three other townsfolk crossing by boat the field in Barangay Danlagan that have turned into a river.
"Lampas tao 'to. Puro palayan 'to. Katatanim-tanim lang. Sayang," said the boatman.
Parts of Quezon province were under signal no. 1 during the onslaught of the storm that also wreaked havoc in Leyte, Aklan, Capiz and even caused fatal landslides in the island of Biliran.
Death toll from Urduja rose to 43 while dozens of others are still missing after massive landslides, disaster officials said following the slow-moving storm's exit from the Philippine area of responsibility.
