President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday dawn visited the wake of a Pasig City anti-narcotics operative who was killed in an encounter with a drug suspect.
Duterte arrived at the wake of PO3 Wilfredo Gueta whose remains lie in Barangay Maybunga, Pasig.
The president gave a posthumous award and promised financial assistance to Gueta's family.
In an interview with reporters, Duterte offered to resign if he fails to address illegal drugs.
Umiinit ulo ko," he said.
Rape. Pumatay ng pulis," he added.
PNP Director General Ronald dela Rosa, who also visited the wake, has this to say on Gueta's death.
Ngayon, pulis namin ang namatay," he said.
Gueta was killed following an encounter with an alleged drug pusher while conducting a surveillance operation last Monday afternoon. A fellow officer was also wounded from the encounter.
The family decided to have Gueta's funeral on Dec. 26, a day after Christmas. - report from Ernie Manio, ABS-CBN News
