MANILA - The Commission on Elections on Wednesday released a resolution in favor of a petition for recall sought by supporters of former San Juan Vice Mayor Francis Zamora.
In its Notice of Sufficiency of the Petition of Recall, Comelec approved the petition seeking a mayoralty election between Zamora and current mayor, Guia Gomez.
Among the requirements submitted by the petitioners was 30,000 signatures of San Juan residents, double the number needed for a recall election to move forward.
In an interview with Radyo Patrol, Zamora said Gomez should accept Comelec's decision and that she has nothing to fear if she believes she won the 2016 elections legitimately.
Gomez has 3 days after receiving the notice to file a motion for reconsideration.
