MANILA - Philippine National Police (PNP) Director General Ronald "Bato" Dela Rosa on Tuesday said it is unfair to tag cops as killers amid allegations of extrajudicial killings.
Dela Rosa was reacting to a display of photos within the grounds of Baclaran Church showing the bloody killings amid the government's war on drugs.
Speaking to reporters, Dela Rosa admitted that there are erring policemen but insisted that there are more of them who remain true to their mandate.
"Kung ila-lump nila na 'yung buong ahensya ng kapulisan eh iba-brand na ganun, killer, that's unfair," the PNP chief said.
On Monday, Dela Rosa revealed that over 2,000 drug suspects were killed in police operations from July 1 to December 18, while another 4,000 died in vigilante attacks.
Amid these killings, the official said that he has already asked for God's forgiveness. -- report from Henry Atuelan, DZMM
