MANILA - The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced the suspension of work and classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in public schools on January 2, 2019.
This followed Malacañang's suspension of work in state colleges and universities and other agencies under the executive branch on the same day.
"As such, work in all offices and units of the Department of Education (DepEd) throughout the country is suspended on the same date," according to DepEd Memorandum No. 193, signed by Education Secretary Leonor Briones.
The suspension of classes in private schools is left to the discretion of their respective school administration, the memorandum states.
