In September, Guanzon lost his voice in the middle of a live broadcast which was to be his last. He was later diagnosed with malignant lung cancer in the same month, May added.
Guanzon was an anchorman for ABS-CBN's DZAQ from 1968 to 1972, until he resigned due to the declaration of Martial Law.
He later served as host for GMA News, radio DZBB and NBN-4.
Guanzon was elected representative of Caloocan's first district from 1995 to 1998.
A wake will be held for Guanzon at his house in BF Homes in Caloocan until his remains are transferred to the Cosmopolitan Memorial Chapel in Quezon City on Wednesday.
