(UPDATED) A 5.1-magnitude earthquake struck northeast of Burgos town in Surigao del Norte on Sunday night.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the quake happened at 10:32 p.m. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 14 kilometers.
Intensity IV was felt in the towns of Burgos, Pilar and Dapa in Surigao del Norte, while Intensity III was felt in Dinagat and San Jose in Dinagat Islands.
Intensity II was also felt in Surigao City and Socorro in Surigao del Norte.
Phivolcs said that while no damage is expected, the earthquake may cause aftershocks.
