MANILA - The National Capital Region Police Office on Sunday said they have not monitored any security threats in the country's capital during the holidays.

But the police's intelligence gathering will continue as Christmas draws near, said NCRPO Director Guillermo Eleazar, to make sure the holiday celebrations will be safe.

Eleazar said the police have enough manpower to secure the metro. They are also on the watch as the Communist Party of the Philippines is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary on December 26.

The communists earlier said they would unilaterally observe a ceasefire for 5 non-consecutive days for the Christmas holidays and their party's 50th founding anniversary.

The unilateral ceasefire will take effect from 12:01 on Dec. 24 to 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 26 and from 12:01 a.m. on Dec. 31 to 11:59 p.m. the next day, New Year's Day.
