DAANBANTAYAN, Cebu - Heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm "Urduja" caused a roadway here to collapse Saturday.

A portion of a road in Sitio Anapo in Barangay Tinubdan collapsed and was closed to 4-wheeled vehicles.

Daanbantayan Mayor Vic Loot, who inspected the area, said the road closure is a precautionary measure against possible soil erosion.

The tropical storm also caused a power outage in parts of Cebu after strong winds toppled electric posts Friday. Power in the areas of Bogo City, San Remegio and Daanbantayan was restored around 6 a.m. Saturday.

Cebu Electric Cooperative 2 engineer Dominador Binghay said around 30 percent of power supply is down and that the firm would only supply power to the central business districts in towns and cities as the province braces for stronger winds Saturday night. -- report from Vilma Andales, ABS-CBN News
