NAGA CITY - The namesake son of Bureau of Corrections chief Nicanor Faeldon tested negative for the use of illegal drugs, results released by the Philippine National Police Saturday showed.

Nicanor Faeldon Jr. tested "negative for the presence of methamphetamine (shabu) and tetrahydrocannabinol (cannabis)," laboratory findings showed.

Three others arrested with him in a drug raid Friday, meanwhile, all tested positive for shabu.

Faeldon Sr. earlier said he would not meddle with his son's case, but would "obliterate" him should it be proven that he is a drug user.

The official had been criticized during his tenure as chief of the Bureau of Customs after billions worth of illegal drugs passed through the agency under his watch.

More details to follow.
