President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday advised drug dependents seeking medications to just stay indoors and expect the arrival of medical officers who will administer their drugs.
Duterte said he will soon release P1 billion for the medicines of drug dependents. The funding will be sourced from the P5 billion earlier remitted by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corp. (Pagcor).
“Itong tinamaan ng droga, if you’re really on the program of the health officers of the city, nandyan lang kayo sa bahay. Mabuti na hindi kayo lumabas ng bahay. Magkulong kayo sa bahay. Kapag nakita ko kayo sa labas, dadamputin kita,” Duterte said.
“You can buy your medicines, for example, tranquilizers, medicines that would keep you calm, medicines that would restore your sanity kung mahabol pa. You just stay in your house and I will order medical officers to go around areas at tsaka yung may tinamaan ng droga na sa bahay lang ang treatment.”
Duterte recently inaugurated a mega rehabilitation facility in Fort Magsaysay, funded by a Chinese tycoon, which can accommodate up to 10,000 drug dependents.
