MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday lamented once again that he regrets his decision to run for president.

Duterte, who won the presidential race with over 16 million votes, shared that he would like to go back in time if only to correct his “mistake” of gunning for the presidency.

“May binulong nga ako kay Sir Manny Pangilinan. Sabi niya, ‘Kamusta?’ But sabi ko, ‘If I were to go back in time, I would have not committed the same mistake.’ Totoo ‘yan,” Duterte said in a speech in Malacañang, referring to the telecommunications tycoon.

Duterte also joked that his salary is not enough to sustain the needs of his “two families.”

“So, I sleep, I go home earliest two [a.m.] dito. Then I review papers until sometimes six o’clock in the morning. Kaya kung pabalikin ako… Wala naman akong ano… I have not totally misgivings, but truly kung pabalikin ako, sabi ko nga sa kanya, ‘Ayaw ko na. Ayaw ko na’. Maliit, t**** i**, maliit ang sweldo. [laughter] Dalawa ang pamilya ko,” he said.
