MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday said Filipino communists would never call for his ouster.
"In every demonstration, it's the yellow who are always shouting for my ouster. You will never hear it from the Communists because I am the president belonging to the Left," Duterte told businessmen in a meeting with the Wallace Business Forum in Malacanang.
"The Reds would never demand my ouster. They will die for me, believe me. That's the reason why I was able to convince them for a [peace] talk," he added.
Duterte said that recent demonstrations were only against the burial of the late President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
"So, do not believe that sh*t that, they will never go for that ouster. Look at their posters. They would just condemn the burial of Marcos, but that is just their favorite line because Marcos was their enemy. But for those who cannot forget, you are condemned to enjoy your grief until you die," he said.
Last week, Duterte slammed "yellow" supporters who joined the recent protest actions against the burial of the late dictator at the heroes' cemetery.
Although Duterte did not mention who the yellows were, he was most likely referring to Liberal Party members, which is associated with the color.
"Yung mga yellow diyan, nagde-demonstrate kayo . . . You want me out kasi you cannot accept defeat," Duterte had said.
The government and the communist rebels are preparing for the next round of talks, which will tackle big-ticket items like land reform and national industrialization, in Rome next month.
