There's no super typhoon heading to the Philippines, contrary to a Facebook video that was widely spread this week.

PAGASA weather forecaster Gener Quitlong on Sunday dismissed the credible-looking post circulating on the social networking site as a hoax.

"Iyung magkakaroon po ng malakas na bagyo, wala pa ho tayong nakikita," he said in an interview over DZMM.

The old CNN International video report, Quitlong said, refers to typhoon Ruby (international name Hagupit) that struck the Philippines in 2014.

"Actually, napanood ko rin po yan sa Facebook. Tapos na po yun. 2014 pa ho yun," he said.

Based on the latest weather forecast, Quitlong said several parts of the country will experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms because of the northeast monsoon and the tail-end of a cold front.
