A Chinese vessel docked in Davao City on Friday to restock provisions, a Chinese official confirmed.
"No other purpose, just to get food and freshwater supply," said Alex Yang, of the Chinese consulate in Davao.
The Yuan Wang 5 arrived in Davao about 9 a.m. on Friday and will be there until Tuesday morning.
"It goes through public sea, open sea, then go to Davao City then go through China sea, back to China," Yang said.
Earlier Saturday, some space science students of Ateneo de Davao University got the chance to have a tour of the vessel, which is used in monitoring Chinese satellites.
Coast Guard Davao is set to issue a statement Sunday morning.
