NEGROS OCCIDENTAL - Police arrested a man in San Carlos City for posing as a cop, no less than the director of Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office.
The suspect was identified as Noel Celestino from General Santos City.
His arrest came after he was asked by a policeman for his identification, police report said.
Celestino attended a Sunday worship and thanksgiving service at the Apostolic Pentecostal Church last Dec. 3.
During the service, he impersonated Senior Supt. Noel Garcia, the newly installed director of NOPPO.
He even offered to help the reassignment of PO1 Epifanio Salem III, a church member.
It was not long until his act was found out. The policeman was not convinced and asked for his I.D.
In an interview, the suspect said he only arrived in Negros Occidental last week and didn't expect he would end up in jail.
Celestino will be charged with usurpation of authority. - report from Meneil Lopez, ABS-CBN News
