During a speech in Legazpi City on Thursday, President Rodrigo Duterte wondered aloud why he won the 2016 elections, despite not having any machinery, nor any money.
Until now, he said, his salary of P130,000 as president is not enough to support two families.
"Ang sweldo ko, ang liit-liit--P130,000 lang pala. Alam naman ninyo, dalawa ang pamilya ko! [Kung] hindi ako magbigay, andiyan si Inday Sara, nanununtok iyan eh. 'Saan ang share ni mama ko?'" Duterte quipped.
(My salary is very small--P130,000. You know that I have two families! If I don't give money, Inday Sara punches people. She'll ask me where her mother's share is.)
It all comes down to management not only of money, but of one's lust, he said.
Duterte also poked fun at his critics.
"Actually, wala akong makinarya, wala akong pera, pero nanalo ako. Tama ang desisyon ninyong hindi ako iboto, wala talaga akong pera!" he said.
(Actually, I did not have any machinery, I did not have money, but I won. You made the right decision not to vote for me. I don't have any money!)
