MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has received the resignation of Vice President Leni Robredo from his Cabinet due to policy differences, Malacañang confirmed.
The President accepted Rodredo's resignation "with a heavy heart," said Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar.
Duterte, through text messages passed on by two senior aides, earlier asked Robredo to stop attending future cabinet meetings.
Robredo on Sunday resigned as housing secretary, ending a four-month stint in Duterte's official family.
She has differed with the President on alleged extrajudicial killings of illegal drug suspects and the burial of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos at the Heroes' Cemetery.
The Vice President has also criticized Duterte's "tasteless"remarks about her appearance and private life.
