Half-mast no more?
The Philippine flag in front of the municipal building in Albuera, Leyte is raised high two days before the burial of slain Mayor Rolanda Espinosa Sr.
It was raised in half-mast last month as a symbol of mourning after Espinosa was killed inside the Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail in Baybay City.
But Mayor Rosa Meneses was quick to clarify that she did not give out instruction to raise the flag high and will correct the matter.
"I ordered for the half-mast of the flag. I'm not so sure (who did it) I was out in Cagayan so I didn't know," she said.
The mayor said the local government earlier prepared for the wake of Espinosa in the municipal hall but the family decided not to push through with it.
"There has been a change in the plan because according to the daughter, Mariel, the mother of Mayor is too old to come here," Meneses said.
Espinosa will be buried at the public cemetery on Sunday.
Town officials will also be there to pay respects, according to Meneses.
