MANILA - Residents and tourists may have to bundle up as Baguio City recorded the coldest temperature so far this quarter on Saturday, just as the calendar hit December.
At 6:30 a.m., weather bureau PAGASA said the temperature dropped to 12.2 degrees Celsius in the city.
This is a drop of nearly 2 degrees from Friday's recorded temperature of 14 degrees Celsius.
Weather specialist Benny Estareja said the coldest temperature recorded in Baguio for the same month last year was 11.5 degrees Celsius on December 16, 2017.
But Estareja explained that the mercury may not be expected to further drop due to the possible entry of the easterlies or warm air coming from the Pacific Ocean.
Meanwhile, the temperature in Metro Manila was recorded at 23 degrees Celsius at 6 a.m. at the Science Garden in Quezon City, slightly higher than Friday's 22.5 degrees Celsius. - With Michelle Soriano, ABS-CBN News
