More than 2,500 kilos of expired frozen pork and chicken meat were turned over to the local task force on meat quality and the City Veterinary Office in Barangay Singcang-Airport in Bacolod City, Wednesday morning.

IFresh, a distributor of imported meat products in Bacolod, voluntarily turned over the expired products for proper disposal.

City Veterinarian Dr. Ma. Agueda de la Torre stressed that the condemned imported meat did not come from countries positive with African Swine Fever.

Task Force Botagoy head Edward Martin Pinaga is thankful that the company sought their help to ensure that the expired products will not fall in the hands of unscrupulous individuals.

The condemned meat includes imported pork riblets, pork hock, pork neck trimmings, pork liver, pork head and chicken leg quarters.

The production and expiry dates on the boxes were dated July 13, 2018 and October 11, 2019.
The expired meat products will be buried in a sanitary landfill site in the city.
