MANILA - A lawmaker on Monday called on the country's neighbors to "be fair" to the Philippines in its hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

1PACMAN Party-list Rep. Mikee Romero said logistical issues also happen when other countries host the SEA Games.

"I’m calling on the NOCs (National Olympic Committees) of the 11 countries. Wala kayong karapatan sabihan kami rin dahil when we were in your country hindi namin kayo ginaganyan, hindi kami nagpapa-presscon and then complain complain," he told ANC's "Headstart."

"I think they have to be fair also to us, everyone is trying their best to host this SEA Games but the sheer volume is just too much and too massive."

The SEA football teams on Sunday addressed the logistical issues they faced and said it was "time to move on and focus on the soccer."

Romero, meantime, cited an incident in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand in 2007 after the Thai football team complained of supposedly repetitive menus and insufficient drinkable water for their athletes.

"Hindi lang nila na-estimate talaga yung food na ibibigay. I had the same problem in Ratchasima, Thailand in 2007," Romero said in defense of the Philippine Southeast Asian Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC).

"It’s nothing new pero we play gracious hosts so I challenge the PHISGOC and everyone else they have to double time our work. In 2 hours dapat ma-deliver natin yung gusto ng mga delegates."

PHISGOC earlier apologized to the Southeast Asian countries after transportation and accommodation issues hounded their arrival in Manila.
