DAVAO CITY - President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday urged businessmen anew not to tolerate and give in to the demands and corrupt practices of government workers, politicians, and law enforcers.
"Kaya sabi ko sa mga tao na, 'Be assertive.' If you are being milked or asked for something, tapos bayad ka na, sampalin mo, sabihin mo, 'p***** i** ka. Bayad na ako niyan,'" he said at the launching of a luxury hotel in Lanang, Davao.
Duterte told investors and businessmen to file a complaint or report to him personally if public officials are asking money from them.
"Huwag kayong matakot mag-report. Kung pupunta ka sa akin sa Malacañang at mag-complain ka, Malacañang is open 24 hours a day. Sabihin mo lang sa gwardya, 'Gisingin mo si Duterte kasi niloko ako at hiningian ako.' And I will call that official in your presence. Nananampal talaga ako at nagsisipa ako."
He challenged the public not become slaves by the government, as government workers are paid to do their duty.
Combating corruption in the bureaucracy was one of the promises of Duterte during his election campaign in 2016.
