6 suspected Abu Sayyaf bandits arrested in Sulu

Six suspected members of the Abu Sayyaf group were arrested by the Naval Forces Western Mindanao (NFWM) in Tonquil town, Sulu on Monday night, a military report said.

They were identified as Omar Amping, 39; Gabby Juwa, 35; Jadi Luhadi, 21; Alcimel Abdulla, 18; Madi Jalilul, 19; and Sakkam Dekani, 60.

An M16A1 rifle, four rifle magazines, and 110 live ammunition were recovered from them.

Their arrest came after they allegedly harassed a commercial fishing vessel Sunday, the report said.

Rear Adm. Rene Medina, NFWM commander, deployed a quick reaction team to go after the alleged bandits.

The military report added that Amping is No. 4 on the list of most wanted personalities in Zamboanga City. He has two standing warrants of arrest for five counts of murder.

The suspects were turned over to the Zamboanga City Police Office while charges were prepared against them.
