CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - Finding kidnap victim Enrique Fernandez III is now the top priority of the Fernandez family after the five police officers who abducted him were detained at the Lumbia City Jail.
Jean Fernandez, Enrique's mother, still hopes to see her son. She appealed to those who have information to coordinate with the family.
Meanwhile Enrique Jr., father of the victim, called on other victims of the police officers to come out.
The Cagayan de Oro City (CDO) prosecutor earlier found probable cause to file kidnapping and carnapping charges against Senior Insp. Ereneo Ramirez, SPO2 Jojo Lim, SPO1 Alaindelon Tacubao, PO3 Alejandro Ubanan, and PO2 Sangkula Hussein.
They were identified as the suspects in the kidnapping incident, based on CCTV footage obtained by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Recently, businessman Felixberto Gonzales appeared at the NBI office in Cagayan de Oro to report that he was a victim of of the police officers who demanded money in exchange for his freedom.
Gonzales said he will still seek advise from his lawyer on filing a case against the police officers. He was arrested sometime August this year and is on bail for a theft case.
Cagayan de Oro Police OIC Sr Superintendent Ronnie Francis Cariaga said other cases can be filed against the police officers if they can provide information on other irregularities committed by the jailed policemen.
The accused police officers are members of the Crimes Against Persons and Properties Desk of the Cagayan de Oro Police Office. Their task is to solve index crimes such as carnapping and kidnapping which ironically they are facing now.
