MANILA—A 4.2-magnitude earthquake struck Cotabato province early Thursday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The tectonic tremor occurred at 6:31 a.m. some 13 kilometers northeast of Tulunan town. It had a depth of 10 kilometers.
Intensity 4, which could generate "moderately strong" shaking, was reported in Kidapawan City.
Phivolcs said the quake would not cause damage or spawn aftershocks.
In October, a string of powerful temblors struck Mindanao, leaving several dead, hundreds hurt and structures destroyed and damaged.
